Men’s Shed a brief history.

The Men’s Shed’s movement began in Australia in the 1980s and has since spread internationally. The movements goal is to improve men’s health and wellbeing through social interaction and craftwork.

The UK Men’s Shed association (UKMSA) was founded in 2013.

The first Men’s Shed in Scotland opened in Westhill , Aberdeenshire in 2013.

The Scottish Men’s Shed association (SMSA) was established on the 30th September 2014 and launched to the public in 2015.

About Larkhall Men’s Shed
Established in 2023 at its current location, Larkhall Men’s Shed was made possible through generous Lottery and charity funding, as well as the incredible support of our local community. We pride ourselves on offering a warm welcome to all who visit, ensuring that our facilities are accessible and inclusive.
Our well-equipped workshop is complemented by a spacious social area, designed to foster community and connection. This welcoming space includes kitchen and bathroom facilities, as well as the iconic oval table—the heart of many lively conversations, shared laughs, and, of course, plenty of biscuits with tea or coffee. More than just a place to relax, it serves as a vital hub for social interaction among our members.
Beyond our own activities, we take pride in collaborating with local charities and churches on a variety of meaningful projects, strengthening our ties with the wider community and making a positive impact together.
